Developmental Assessments
A developmental assessment gives you a clear, thorough picture of how your child is growing, tailored to the specific questions keeping you up at night. Using standardised, evidence-based tools, we replace worry and guesswork with understanding you can actually act on.
What It's For
Every child develops at their own pace, but sometimes a particular area, communication, movement, play, attention, self-regulation, doesn't seem to be tracking the way you'd expect. A developmental assessment looks carefully across all these areas so nothing important is missed, and so the strengths your child already has are recognised too.
How We Do It
We begin by listening to your concerns and your child's history. Then, through play-based, standardised activities and structured observation, we gather real evidence about how your child thinks, moves, communicates and connects. We draw on multiple sources, never a single impression, so the picture is one you can trust.
What You Walk Away With
You leave with a clear, plain-language explanation of what we found, what it means for your child, and exactly what to do next. Whether that's reassurance, targeted therapy, or a referral, you'll understand your child more deeply and know the concrete next step.
What an Assessment Includes
An assessment is the start of understanding, not a label. Whatever we find, you won't be left to make sense of it alone, we walk alongside your family, every step, for as long as you need us.
Questions Parents Ask Us
What happens in a developmental assessment?+
We gather information from you, use standardised assessment tools and structured observation, and where useful seek input from school or kindy. You then get a plain-language report and a conversation explaining what it means.
Do you use the Bayley-4?+
We select assessment tools based on your child’s age and the questions you need answered. For young children that can include the Bayley-4. Our team will explain which tools we plan to use and why.
Is an assessment the same as a diagnosis?+
No. Our assessments describe how your child is developing and functioning. Formal diagnoses are made by medical practitioners and psychologists, and our reports are written to support that process where it is the right next step.
